Sheffield Sword Club
Sheffield Sword Club restarted 2003 after a number of years of inactivity. The History of the Sword Club is strong as it was for many years the biggest and strongest club in the area, and hence when we decided to start a new club, Sheffield Sword Club was the obvious choice for the name.
Since 2003 we have developed the club with the help of an "Awards for All" grant in 2004/05 to be one of the largest and best resourced clubs in the region. We have 9 regular coaches, who work in various areas of the clubs development, we have a new but vibrant Junior session and as a club we are "working towards" ClubMark status.
We're one of the few clubs that meet more than once a week, and we run through the summer holidays - The prime out of season training time.
Our coaching resource is simply outstanding, from dedicated beginner coaches through to our Elite level coaches, the club is one with the complete development pathway in one place.
Many of the fencers that we train also train elsewhere, we're happy with that as we know that they'll come to us once or twice a week, which is the norm for competitive fencers at the top of the game. We have a number of International fencers at Cadet (U17), Junior (U20) and Senior level as well as Veteran fencers (40+)
